Extended lifetime by changing wire mesh structure

After reviewing the wire mesh composition of the extruder multi-layered wire mesh filter, we were able to extend the life by increasing pressure resistance.

Customer Issue

The extruder filter is immediately deformed and the replacement life is short.

Multi-layered wire mesh filter from other supplier was used for melted resin extruder. Wire mesh was immediately deformed and had a short replacement life.
The customer consulted with us whether wire mesh can extend its lifetime by changing its structure.

Our proposal

Calculated the pressure resistance and pressure drop of the multi-layted wire mesh and selected more suitable wire mesh

First of all, we calculated pressure resistance and initial pressure drop of the existing wire mesh filter from other supplier. As a result, we found the pressure resitance is lower than pressure drop( force above pressure resistance is applied on wire mesh filter ).
Then, we considerd wire mesh structure with higher pressure resistance than pressure drop and proposed new structure of multi-layered wire mesh filter.

Effect after introduction

Improve lifetime of multi-layered wire mesh filter

We could extend the life of multi-layered wire mesh filter by changing from former wire mesh filter from other supplier to our proposed filter.

However, there were more fortunate reasons.
・In order to increase pressure resistance, total thickness of multi-layred wire mesh has increased, but the filter equipment could allow increased thickness.
・Higher pressure resirance usulally increase initial pressure drop. This time we have achieved the same level of former product.
